	Black History Month Presentations Anne Cabell brought students from Henderson County High School to East Heights Elementary on Friday, February 6 to do presentations concerning the contributions to American history by individuals of African American heritage. The high school students gave oral presentations and left activities with the teachers relevant to the topics. 	Physical Educator of the Year Award Mrs. Jamie Johnston, the Physical Education Teacher at East Heights and Niagara Elementary Schools has been chosen as Elementary Physical Educator of the Year by the state organization Kentucky Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. She was honored in an award ceremony in Louisville, Ky. in October 2008. Vice President of Physical Education for KAHPERD Mrs. Jamie Johnston was elected Vice President of Physical Education on the KAHPERD board October 17, 2008. This is a two year term, where she will attend the state KAHPERD board meetings. KAHPERD is the Kentucky Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.


Congratulations! Julie Schneider, East Heights teacher since 2002, was selected as the new curriculum specialist at East Heights for the 2008-09 school year. Mrs. Schneider fills the position vacated by Nancy Gibson who has taken the role of principal at East Heights. We are excited to have Mrs. Schneider in a leadership position at East Heights!
